Xbox 360 E74 and other E-codes: what they mean and what to check
An Xbox 360 showing one red light and an on-screen 'E' code is telling you roughly where the fault is. E74 is the best known and is linked to the GPU and eDRAM link (and, according to many repairers, the HANA/ANA video chip), while E68 and E79 often trace to the hard drive or flash. Read the code, try the cheap checks first, then decide on board work.
