Terms of use

Last updated 14 October 2026

The rules for using CircuitScope. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them.

Who can use the site

You must be at least 13 to create an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you're responsible for what's done with your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

What you post

  • You keep ownership of what you post. You give Circuit Scope a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, show, adapt (e.g. resize photos) and share it as part of the site. Contributions to the shared knowledge base (boards, components, guides, error codes) stay available to the community if you leave.
  • Only post things you have the right to share. Don't post confidential, NDA-protected or proprietary material, or other people's personal information.
  • Be respectful: no harassment, hate, threats, spam, scams, illegal content or anything that puts people in danger.
  • Don't try to break, overload, scrape or get around the security of the site.

Moderators may edit, hide or remove content, and suspend accounts, that break these rules. You can report anything you think breaks them using the report buttons.

Repair information and safety

Board data, guides and advice come from the community and are provided for information only. They may be incomplete or wrong. Electronics can be dangerous — mains voltages, charged capacitors and lithium batteries can cause serious injury or fire. Only work on equipment if you're competent to do so, follow proper safety precautions, and check information against the manufacturer's documentation.

Trades and donor parts

Trades and donations are between members. We don't take part in them, check items, or guarantee that anyone will do what they say. Use common sense and report anything suspicious.

Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep the site running and accurate, but it's provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for any loss from using the site or relying on its information. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Security & 2FA → Your data. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; we'll tell members about significant changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, but if you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU you also keep the protection of your local consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts.
