About this component
Pins A1–A32 are on the back row and B1–B32 on the front. Most Mega Drive 'won't boot' or 'black screen' faults are dirty or bent slot contacts, so clean the slot and the cartridge contacts with isopropyl alcohol first. The cartridge can also feed stereo audio back in on B1 and B3, and B32 tells the console a cartridge is plugged in.
