PS4 no picture / no signal: HDMI port and HDMI encoder chip

Contributed by CircuitScope research team · Added 09 Oct 2026 · 2 views

A PS4 that turns on to a white light but shows nothing on the TV usually has a resolution/HDCP mismatch, a damaged HDMI socket, or a failed HDMI encoder chip. Start with Safe Mode and cable checks, then inspect and replace the port. If shorts remain on the HDMI lines afterwards, the encoder chip (commonly the Panasonic MN864729 on later boards) is the next suspect.
