The Ally X moves from the original Ally's 2230 slot to a full-length M.2 2280 slot, fitted with a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. This makes replacement drives cheaper and easier to find. The drive is socketed and user-replaceable. Part variants: 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD as shipped; drive maker not confirmed.
