About this component
Like the Series X, the Series S uses a socketed custom Western Digital SN530 NVMe module in the M.2 2230 size, on the underside of the board, linked over PCIe 4.0 x2 at about 2.4 GB/s raw. Only about 364 GB of the 512 GB is free for games. Being socketed makes it easy to remove for testing, but a replacement drive has to be prepared for the console. Part variants: Launch units use a custom WD SN530 M.2 2230 module. The 1 TB Series S models (2023 black, 2024 white) were not checked.
