About this component
The CPU AGB contains the ARM7TDMI that runs GBA games, plus an SM83 core used only in Game Boy and Game Boy Color mode. On-chip memory includes 32 KB of fast work RAM, 96 KB of video RAM, palette RAM, OAM and the 16 KB BIOS ROM, while the larger 256 KB work RAM is a separate chip. It is a custom part, so the only replacement source is a donor board. Part variants: Marking letter varies with revision (CPU AGB, CPU AGB A, CPU AGB B and later); the database unit on an AGB-CPU-10 board carries CPU AGB A.
What it does on this board
32-bit ARM7TDMI @16.78MHz with a legacy 8-bit core for GB/GBC games.
