About this component
The CPU CGB is an evolution of the DMG-CPU with a selectable double-speed mode, colour palettes, extra DMA and 16 KB of video RAM built in, so the board needs only one external RAM chip. It also carries a 2 KB boot ROM and the four-channel sound generator. It is a custom part with no replacement source other than donor boards. Part variants: Revisions marked CPU CGB, CPU CGB A, B, C, D and E exist; B is the most common in the hardware database.
What it does on this board
Double-speed 8-bit CPU (up to ~8.39MHz) with colour PPU.
