About this component
Gekko is the GameCube's main processor, a PowerPC 750CXe with about 50 extra instructions for paired-single floating-point maths used in 3D work. It talks to the Flipper chip over a 64-bit bus at 162 MHz. It is a 27 x 27 mm BGA, so faults call for reballing or a donor board rather than simple replacement.
