About this component

On the original PSP-1000 the main DDR sits next to the SoC as its own chip. From the PSP-2000 Sony stacked the RAM inside the SoC package, so there is no separate memory chip to rework on those boards. The extra 32 MB on later models is used for UMD caching and some homebrew. Part variants: PSP-1000: 32 MB DDR as a separate chip. PSP-2000/3000/Go/E1000: 64 MB inside the SoC package (no separate RAM chip).

What it does on this board

32MB (PSP-1000) or 64MB (PSP-2000+) system RAM.
