About this component
Runs the user's sketch at 16 MHz and provides the Mega's 54 digital pins, 16 analogue inputs and four hardware UARTs. UART0 is wired to the ATmega16U2 for USB uploads; the other three appear on the headers. Arduino's own documentation calls this part IC3. A corrupted bootloader can be reloaded through the ICSP header beside it.
