AMD 100-000000388 ('Project Scarlett')
About this component
The Series X SoC is a 360 mm² TSMC 7 nm chip with about 15.3 billion transistors. It combines an 8-core Zen 2 CPU (3.8 GHz, or 3.66 GHz with SMT) with an RDNA 2 GPU that has 56 CUs on the die and 52 enabled, at a fixed 1.825 GHz, plus the GDDR6 controllers and hardware decompression for the SSD. It sits on the separate SoC board under the vapour chamber. It is a large soldered BGA, so replacing it is rarely practical and a board swap is the usual fix. Part variants: Marking from iFixit's launch-unit teardown. The 2024 refreshed Series X (digital and 2 TB models) uses a redesigned board with a smaller SoC; its marking was not confirmed.
8-core Zen 2 @3.8GHz with a 52 CU RDNA 2 GPU (~12 TFLOPS).
