About this component
All LCD Steam Decks have a single M.2 2230 slot. The 64 GB model fills it with a slow eMMC-based module on a single PCIe 2.0 lane, while the 256 GB and 512 GB models use a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD. Because it is socketed, the drive is a common user upgrade; after swapping it, SteamOS has to be reinstalled from recovery media. A microSD slot is also fitted on every model. Part variants: 64 GB model: eMMC on an M.2 2230 module over PCIe 2.0 x1. 256 GB and 512 GB models: NVMe M.2 2230 SSD over PCIe 3.0 x4. Drive makers vary by batch.
