About this component
Runs Linux from eMMC or microSD, using the single 512 MB DDR3L chip over a 16-bit bus at 400 MHz. Its two PRUs are 200 MHz real-time cores that many BeagleBone projects rely on. The processor is powered and sequenced entirely by the TPS65217C, so a board with no activity LEDs should be checked for PMIC rails before the processor is blamed. It is a BGA part and is rarely worth replacing. Part variants: Early BeagleBone Black revisions used the pre-production XM3359AZCZ100; production boards use AM3358BZCZ100.
What it does on this board
