About this component
A single x16 DDR3L device on 16 data lines, run at 400 MHz by the AM3358. The board has no option for two x8 chips. Memory faults usually show up as early boot hangs or random kernel crashes; because it is a fine-pitch BGA, reflow or replacement needs proper rework equipment. Note the seed's 'DDR3' is the 1.35 V DDR3L variant. Part variants: The BeagleBone Black System Reference Manual names only the Micron part. Other vendors' equivalents may appear on later production but were not verified.
What it does on this board
512MB DDR3 next to the SoC.
