About this component
Takes 5 V from the DC jack or USB and generates the processor core, DDR3L, 1.8 V and 3.3 V rails in a set power-up sequence; the AM3358 talks to it over I2C, and the power button connects to its PB_IN pin. The C variant sets DCDC1 to 1.5 V for DDR3L. A board where the power LED stays off, or which turns off as soon as USB/HDMI load is added, often has a PMIC or input-power fault. Check the rails before replacing it, and note the 48-pin QFN needs hot air and a good ground-pad joint.
