About this component
The main processor. It has its own LPDDR4 controller, the Ethernet MAC (feeding an external Broadcom PHY over RGMII), dual HDMI, and one PCIe Gen 2 lane that serves the VL805 USB 3 controller. The USB-C port's data goes to a separate USB 2.0 OTG controller inside the BCM2711. It runs hot under load and throttles at high temperature, so a heatsink or fan helps. It is a BGA part with no public electrical datasheet, so board-level repair stops at its supplies and surrounding parts. Part variants: Early boards use the B0 stepping; boards made from mid-2021 use the C0 stepping, which runs at 1.8 GHz by default.
Quad-core ARM Cortex-A72 @1.5GHz application processor.
