About this component
Backwards compatible with earlier 40-pin Raspberry Pi boards, and HATs identify themselves on pins 27/28 (ID_SD/ID_SC). The GPIOs are 3.3 V only and are not 5 V tolerant, so 5 V on a GPIO pin is a common way to kill the SoC's I/O. The board can also be powered with 5 V on the header's 5 V pins, but that bypasses the USB-C input protection.
