About this component
The eMMC stores the boot partitions, system firmware, user saves and downloaded games. It is encrypted and tied to the console's keys, so a chip swapped from another unit will not boot without restoring a backup of the original NAND. On later Mariko boards the supplier changed to SK hynix. Corrupted eMMC contents give boot errors rather than a dead board, so check the data before replacing the chip.
